Mountain Gunsmoke

Here's a very hard to find older chocolate gelding with great gait. Gunner is from the incredible Magnum and Johnson's Toby cross that has produced so many great horses. Take a look at his videos and photos below.

Gunner is a very calm gelding even when asked to gait with a large tarp on his head!

What a rare opportunity! Mountain Gunsmoke is an impeccably bred, older and experienced, chocolate gelding. Bred by Wendell Johnson, one of our breed’s most famous, Gunsmoke comes from the very well respected Magnum and Johnson’s Toby cross.

This boy has the classic Rocky conformation and quiet disposition but he still has the energy to come into the bridle and gait very well. He is comfortable in a stall or paddock and enjoys a horse bath with hose/spray nozzle and clippers. As you can see in the videos, he stands very quietly for tacking up and even crazy people who want to ride with a 16 foot tarp wrapped around them!

Gunsmoke has extensive trail riding and camping experience, including trips to Baraboo Bluffs, Governor Dodge, Kettle Moraine, Dodgeville, Wild Cat Mountain, Palmyra and Blackhawk in Wisconsin and La Aqua Na Park in Illinois. These adventures had him climbing up and down steep trails, crossing a 40-foot wide creek that is between 10 inches and 3 feet deep and tied overnight on the picket line.

Owned by Kris Blacklock, Gunsmoke recently completed a 30-day conditioning program with us after a season off. Kris has decided to sell him so that she can focus more time on her young gelding. He is priced at $4,400.
